"I have been painting Sydney harbour and surrounds for over 30 years, and it never ceases to inspire. From the impact on the grand scale to the hidden spaces buried in small inlets and coves, every turn provides another opportunity. The boats are the main drawcard, sitting deep in the dark waters or dancing on the surface, colours, shapes, movement and every sense affected by their presence and action. Every shape and size, 50,000 tons to that you can pick up with one hand. Those that sail, and steam, wallow and glide, all blending and bending in the environment at hand, and creating the heart of activity in the valleys, bays and open expanses of water."
